Graupner Christoph (1683-1760)

          Scores and parts of over 800 Graupner cantatas are now accessible on-line !

 

There are about 1400 Graupner cantatas from the years 1709-1754 in the Hessische Universitäts- und Landesbibliothek, Darmstadt (D-DS).  Over 50 of these cantatas include prominent solo or elaborated continuo parts for one or two bassoons. The solo parts from 17 arias are on-line here with the generous permission of that library.

I am grateful to Dr Oswald Bill for guiding me to these cantatas and to Herr Bernhard Schmitt for assistance with some original texts.

The Jahrgang listing of Graupner cantatas (Friedrich Noack, Christoph Graupner als Kirchenkomponist, Breitkopf & Härtel, Wiesbaden 1960) does not list "Fag." in numerous cantatas that contain important solo parts; the original title pages often give incomplete instrumentation.

I thank Florian Heyerick www.graupner2010.org for information on the Graupner Werkverzeichnis (GWV)  listings according to the church calendar. The following link gives the GWV classification with complete instrumentation, and access to scores and parts of almost 1400 Graupner cantatas.These cantatas contain many important and challenging obbligati in addition to those listed here.
